Nico Tuason

Nico Tuason (he/him) was appointed to the Alameda County Public Health Commission in 2023 by Supervisor Marquez. He brings over two decades of experience in marketing and product management in the biotech sector and investing in the health tech space. Nico joins the Commission to advocate for effective public health communication, education, and awareness for Alameda County residents to lead healthy lives. Nico supports solutions that address health equity and enhances health access for all, especially in light of issues around telehealth, AI in healthcare, and health care provider burnout. Recent experience has also made him passionate about ensuring that aging at home is culturally-competent. Nico holds a B.S. degree in Genetics from UC Davis. A decades long resident of Alameda County and an immigrant from the Philippines, Nico lives in Union City with his wife and son.

Izuchukwu M. Offiaeli
Izuchukwu “Izuu” Offiaeli brings over 12 years of experience in population health, nutrition, and social services. As a former Program Officer at UNICEF, he led transformative Maternal, Infant, Young Child, Adolescent Health and Nutrition (MIYCAH+N) programs that reached over 44 million children under five and 10 million pregnant women in West Africa. His leadership pioneered Nigeria’s first Mother and Child Health Handbook and the Defined Package of Health and Nutrition Counselling Services – initiatives that contributed to a 41% reduction in child mortality over five years and shaped national health policy frameworks. Izuu is a PMI-certified program manager with a Master’s in Public Health and training in Humanitarian Response to Conflict and Disaster from the Harvard FXB Center for Health and Human Rights. As a U.S. State Department Mandela Washington Fellow, he has been recognized for advancing health equity among vulnerable populations. Now residing in Hayward, California, Izuu is committed to championing equitable public health policies and reducing maternal and child health disparities through innovative, community-centered approaches.
