County Commissioner Application

The PHC membership is open to all Alameda County residents who are supportive of the improvement of the health and well-being of residents living in Alameda County. New members shall be recruited through an extensive outreach process, taking into consideration PHC's strong commitment to ethnic and geographic diversity.

The PHC membership is composed of twenty-five (25) members, four members from each of the five (5) supervisory districts and five (5) at-large members. The five (5) at-large members are nominated by the Public Health Commission. All twenty-five (25) members must be approved by the Board of Supervisors. Each term shall be for two (2) years with a maximum tenure which reflects current Board policy.

 

Membership on the PHC shall be consistent with California conflict of interest laws as codified in Government Code section 1090 and Government Code section 87100. All members of the PHC shall comply with these and other applicable California conflict of interest laws.

If you are interested in being appointed to the commission, please complete the Board of Supervisors' Boards, Committees and Commissions application. You can find a link to it here. Applicants will need to first register, then fill in the online application and submit.  Your application will be reviewed and an interview with prospective applicants will be arranged with the Board of Supervisors' staff in the district where you reside.
